Site Engineer – CP7 Geotechnical & Drainage Framework (Rail)

Role Overview
An experienced Site Engineer is required to support the delivery of geotechnical and off-track drainage works as part of a major CP7 rail framework across the Wales & Western region. This is a long-term infrastructure programme offering the opportunity to work on critical rail projects near Bristol.
The successful candidate will play a key role in site delivery, setting out, quality assurance, health & safety compliance, and coordination of site operations to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate setting out using GPS, laser levels, and total stations
- Interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements
- Support implementation and maintenance of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Conduct site inspections, enforce hold points, and complete QA documentation
- Ensure works comply with required quality standards and engineering specifications
- Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant, and material deliveries on site
- Monitor progress and report delays, risks, or site issues to project teams
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and Permit to Work systems
- Review and implement RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
- Maintain accurate site diaries, records, and as-built information
- Liaise with design teams and raise RFIs/TQs where necessary
- Attend and contribute to site meetings, briefings, and progress updates
- Demonstrate a good understanding of temporary works requirements
- Communicate effectively with site teams and maintain a positive, proactive attitude
Requirements
Essential
- Valid PTS certification
- Valid CSCS card
- Strong setting out experience within civil engineering or rail environments
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable
- IRATA / Rope Access certification
- Experience in geotechnical or drainage works
- Previous Network Rail framework experience
